There is an extreme shortage of doctors and nurses in the health sector under the National Health Service of England. The MPs have expressed their concern that there may be a serious risk to the safety of patients due to the large number of vacant posts.
Officials have said that there is currently a shortage of 12,000 doctors and 50,000 nurses and midwives in England. It has been called the most critical situation in the history of the NHS. However, the government has said that the number of workers is increasing and NHS England has a long-term plan to recruit more staff.
